Due to additive manufacturing technologies are in its early stages, there are few processable materials with these technologies if we to compare with conventional processes. AIMME is working on increasing the number of materials demanded by the market with these technologies among which include the development of MMCs (6 wt.% ceramic and 94 wt.% 316L steel) for SLM, 17-4 PH steel and CoCrMo ASTM F75, and Ti6Al7Nb, Ni-base superalloy, commercially pure Cu and other materials confidential by EBM technology.
To develop the processing parameters of new materials, besides of additive manufacturing technologies, AIMME has a broad range of equipment and facilities for determining the properties of materials by destructive and non-destructive testing. These equipments are sized to study a broad range of materials used by the industry.
